Taken from LF, a lit site some of us here go to:
Truth be told, there is some just...garbage on LF. That people all suck up like it's gold and pat each other on the back about while good pieces go unnoticed. But really, why comment on the trash?
My reply was this:
Lit snobs piss me off.
They go to every piece they can and tear it the hell apart - not in a good way but by being "snobby" and superior, as if they're the Best Writer on Earth. And when confronted by this they snort and say they're just being "honest" and if you can't handle it back off. But it's not that.
You suck as a writer if you can't give constructive criticism that doesn't offend.
This means you can not write well enough to convey what you're thinking without pissing someone off. Let's hear that agin, shall we? You "can't write well enough" to do this one simple thing. Then I think folks like this should shut the hell up.
OH HOLY GOD. I think I found the page. Why the hell were they acting so superior?!

I'm a writer known as iblue on FictionPress. I was directed to Lemonfingers.com from an advertisment on deviantART. (I take anonymous reviews there in case you want to flame me.)
So far this place seems ridiculous and everyone seems frivolous and idiotic. It's even worse than FictionPress. But I'm sure if I look long enough I'll find some intelligent people. Or so I hope.
I am a harsh critic and I say exactly what I think. This doesn't mean I'll insult writers (although sometimes I'd like to), but I will say exactly what I hate about their work and why. I'm not afraid to suggest corrections, especially in spelling and grammar.
I'm an avid reader and a serious writer. I take writing seriously, so if you don't, you're likely to get a negative review if I bother to read your work.
Please note: By posting your writing online, you are inviting comments of any kind. If you don't want negative reviews (i.e. anything other than praise), then simply do not post your work online.
EDIT: Quinlin has given up on finding decent writing here. Farewell, lemonfingers.

My reply was this:
Wow. This just seeps "superiority".
I'm actually glad you're gone, because you don't seem to take things lightly enough sometimes. Yes, I have found really trash work on this site. But there is also good work to be found. I comment on the good pieces and keep my mouth shut on the bad.
It's not that hard being polite. I shake my head at the 'if you post it on the internet you've got to take the heat' BS I hear from folks now and then. It still boils down to being polite in the end, and that doesn't mean you have to say 'this is great!' when you think it isn't.
"I've looked everywhere for good fiction online, but no place seems to contain the quality work I seek."
You're not looking hard enough. It's out there.
